Also knowns as the kingdom of mountains, this state flaunts its unique beauty in the amalgamation of culture and nature. To explore the harmony, we begin the Sikkim bike ride from the capital city Gangtok, where forests of rhododendrons and oaks seem to create warm and welcoming vibes. The least populous Indian state offers a rich variety of tourist attractions including the third highest mountain peak on Earth, Kanchanjunga and breath-taking sceneries of alpine meadows, Shimmery glacial lakes, Temi tea gardens and attractive paddy fields complementing the serenity of tiny villages throughout the state. Another key highlight of this bike trip to Sikkim is its close connectivity with Darjeeling, which boasts the highest railway station in India. To make your trip perfect, we would guide you to reach there and enjoy a ride on the toy train. The captivating destination of Darjeeling has gorgeous sights all around. To take these memories back home we will also make a halt for souvenir shopping.

Bike ride in Sikkim is moderately challenging. The gorgeous locations have some not-so-gorgeous routes which addto the adventure part of the itinerary. Especially rolling down the trails in North Sikkim creates a bit of a challenge, due to lack of infrastructure. Although the panoramic vista you get after completing a day full of challenging rides fills you with a sense of achievement. Overall, it is going to be a mesmerizing experience crafted by the harmony of culture, nature and wilderness. Take a look at the itinerary and book your slot for a fixed departure or private cycling tour in Sikkim.

The trip begins by exploring the popular tourist hotspots which include snow covered peaks at Tashi Viewpoint, Hanuman Tok and Ganesh Tok. Hanuman Tok is the highest point in Gangtok city which records an altitude of 2180 meters. Before gaining the adrenaline kicking altitude, we would cover some more attractions like the Gonjang Monastery. The peaceful place is very close to Tashi Viewpoint which is famous for offering panoramic 180 degree view of Gangtok. It is not a well-known monastery, thus you get a great chance to get a peaceful glance of Buddhist learning and culture while dealing with a moderate rush. The front yard of the monastery is facing the East Himalayan range which gives a unique sense of peaceful vibes to the visitors. After getting enchanting in the serenity of the monastery we would be pedalling toward Tashi View Point to spot the mighty Kanchenjunga peaks.

Already feeling mesmerized with the thoughts of greenery, hills and greeting monks? There is more to the Gangtok sightseeing charm. We will turn our handlebars towards a beautiful temple situated on top of a hill. Day: 3 Gangtok – Martam Village - Temi Tea Garden

After breakfast, we will leave the hotel and start pedalling towards Martam Village. The route is somewhat easy with mostly downhill roads which are covered with thick oak forests and spellbinding greenery. Before hitting Martam, we will turn our handlebars towards the peaceful ambience of the very famous biggest spot for Buddhist learning in Sikkim, the Rumtek Monastery. The beauty of this monastery makes your unforgettable tour as the path leading to the shrine here is made of silver and gold and studded with stunning precious stones.

After getting enhanced with the spiritual and historic importance of the place, we will be on our bikes once again to head towards Martam, where we get to explore the unadulterated beauty of Sikkim culture and hospitality. For a perfect glance of the countryside, Martam is a great choice. Surrounded by thick forests and paddy fields, the small village offers a unique chance to explore the beauty of wilderness as it is very close to the Wildlife Sanctuary, FambongLho. The abundance of flora and fauna at this place is experienced with an easy downhill ride. Rolling down for about 20 kms we will meet the half point at Sirwani Bridge, after which pedalling might feel like a bit of a challenge due to the slight ascends.

Following the trails, we will gain a height of 1500 meters and will reach the enchanting estates of Temi Tea Garden. Sparling across 440 acres, the tea estate offers a unique glance into the simple life of people living here. Tour of this place is quite refreshing as the air is filled with a lively aroma and the picture perfect views are surely a sight to behold. Day 2 of cycling is somewhat overwhelming as you will be covering a longer distance and gaining the elevation of 1500 meters would also be tiring for both your mind and body. So we would call it a day as soon as we reach Martam and take a tour of the tea estates the next morning.

The sights of the lush green tea estate would surely blow you away, in case it is your first time touring a tea garden. The first half of the ride is pleasantly amazing because of an easy downhill track, however, after crossing the village Legship pedalling becomes somewhat adventurous as we have to reach on top of a hill at Tashiding hamlet to explore the most sacred Gompa of Buddhism. In this monastery, they put sacred holy water in a vase and keep it for a year. At the annual Bumchu festival, the monks check the level of the water to predict the future. The place has been a centre of worship for locals of Sikkim. Walking around offers a different feeling altogether because of the chilly air and panoramic views. Everything about this Gompa ensures a rejuvenating experience, after which we will continue biking to reach the next stop Yuksom which is filled with views of snow-capped mountains and also has a rich history as it is the ancient capital of Sikkim.

It is believed that the lake always has clean and pristine water which is kept intact by nature itself. You won’t find a leaf or anything floating on the surface of this lake which is believed to have powers to fulfil your wish.
